Abhinandan in Hindi

Hindi is among the most widely spoken and most widely recognized languages in the world. But for a spiritual seeker, this may not be such a distinction. For anyone who is interested in learning more about Vrindavan, Hindi becomes the medium through which the tangible and intangible culture and lifestyle of Vrindavan can be understood and participated in.

Hindi is the lingua franca of the Indian subcontinent. Not just India and Pakistan, but all the way from Afghanistan through Bangladesh, Hindi is easily recognizable and can be used to communicate basic needs and ideas essential for daily life. Further, the writing systems and grammatical syntaxes of most languages in this geography are quite similar to Hindi; therefore, expertise in this one language can afford a scholar a much deeper understanding of the great civilization of India.

Indian civilization in turn is the receptacle for the deep esoteric philosophical ideas treasured in Vrindavan. Brijbhasha, the language of Shri Krishna Himself, can be seen as a dialect of Hindi or a sister language of Hindi. And not just Brijbhasha, but especially for scholars whose first language is from a European family of languages, Hindi can act as an excellent medium for learning Sanskrit too.

In summary, Hindi is highly recommended for anyone interested in the science of bhakti. And this Foundational Hindi Course focuses on aspects of the language specifically useful for seekers living in Vrindavan.
